She is best known for her portrayal of the character Serena van der Woodsen in
the television teen drama series Gossip Girl .On 25th August, 1987, she was born
in California to her father, Ernie, an actor and director and her mother, Elaine, a
talent scout. The youngest member of the showbiz family followed the path of
her parents' and siblings'.
Though initially Lively was not interested in acting but after few audition when
she got the role of Bridget for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, she changed
her mind and focused on acting as a career. Lively said that observing her parents
teach acting classes helped her learn the "drills" of acting and gain confidence as
she got older.
In her personal life after several relationships with actor Kelly Blatz, Penn Badgley,
Leonardo DiCaprio she married to her Green Lantern co-star Ryan Reynolds in
October 2011 after dating for two years, in July 2005.
In 2011, she was ranked in the annual TIME magazine 100 influential people.

She also appeared as a host in Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2010.
She got several nominations from which she won 2 Teen Choice Awards for
Gossip Girl in 2008 and in the same year in Newport Beach Film Festival she
achieved award for Elvis and Anabelle. She was honored for her outstanding
performance in the film The Town by National Board of Review, Washington D.C.
Area Film Critics Association in 2010. In 2011 she again received Teen Choice
Awards for her performance in Gossip Girl.

During the 2008 United States presidential election Lively expressed her
support for Barack Obama by appearing in a pro-Obama commercial, as part of
MoveOn.org's Youth Vote program which was directed by Doug Liman, aired
during Gossip Girl on CW, MTV and Comedy Central.
Still in 2012, Lively became the face of the new Gucci fragrance titled Gucci
Premiere and also appeared in a short film ad directed by Nicolas Winding Refn
for the fragrance.
People magazine named her one of 2012's Most Beautiful at Every Age.
