This gorgeous ‘Chhammok challo’ Heroine in the B Town first gave the idea of
zero size in Bollywood. She grew up around the Bollywood background where
her legendary Kapoor family has been in the film industry for the last 50 years,
including her paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor; her grandfather, Raj
Kapoor; her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi, and Rajiv; as well as aunt,
Neetu Singh, & Jennifer Kendall, the wives of Rishi and Shashi respectively. On her
maternal side, her grandfather, Hari Shivdasani, and aunt, Sadhana, have been
actors in their own rights. She brought up with her elder sister Karisma who is also
an actress.

From the young age she was very naughty but had deep interest in acting and
used to in front of the mirror, wearing her mother's clothes. She completed her
study from Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Bombay and later enrolled her name
in Dehra Dun's prestigious Welham Girls' Boarding School. After completing
3 month’s summer course in Information Technology and Microcomputers,
she returned to India and joined the Government Law College in Church gate,
Bombay, but left it after one year. Then she decided to fulfill her dream to
become an actress and joined in the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting School.

Though in 2000 her debut film JP Dutta's Refuge opposite Abhishek
Bachchan didn't gave a great business at the box office. But her
performance was well received and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best
Female Debut.
A series of films in the past that includes Muje Kkuch Kehna Hai, Yaadein,
Ashoka, Khushi, Mein Prem Ki Deewani hoon, LOC Kargil sank without a
trace.Her Ajnabee; the Abbas-Mustan thriller got lukewarm response in
boxoffice.
In 2001’s blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham she left her mark as a girl
with potential. In that year she got Nomination for Filmfare Award for Best
Actress for Ashoka and, Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for the
film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Her movies released in 2004 and 2005, Chameli, Yuva, Fida, Aitraaz, Dev,
Hulchal, Bewafaa, Dosti: Friends Forever received a lukewarm response
at the box-office. However, her roles in Chameli and Dev were critically
acclaimed. In 2006, she starred in 36 China Town, Chup Chup Ke, Omkara
and did a cameo appearance in Don – The Chase Begins Again.

In 2007 Jab We Met gave a huge success and fan following. Tashan,
released in 2008, was a flop. Another release of 2008, Roadside Romeo, an
animated movie from Yash Raj and Walt Disney Pictures had her lending
her voice to the character of Laila. Kambakkht Ishq and Main Aurr Mrs
Khanna both 2009 releases did not do so well, however Kurbaan and 3
Idiots which also released in the same year gained her nominations for
Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She then appeared in the much stalled
Milenge Milenge (2010). Karan Johar’s We Are Family (2010), a Hindi
adaptation of Hollywood’s Stepmom (1998) saw her playing the role
originally portrayed by the talented, Julia Roberts. The role won her the
Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has been a part of the
Golmaal series and has played a role in Golmaal Returns (2008) and was the
leading lady in Golmaal 3 (2010).

In 2011, she was first seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Ra.One and later
opposite Salman Khan in Bodyguard. Both these films did huge business at
the box-office. In 2012, she was seen opposite Imran Khan in Karan Johar’s
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu which also did well at the box-office. After the flop
one Sriram Raghavan's Agent Vinod began work on Madhur Bhandarkar's
drama Heroine, a film revolving around the Bollywood film industry through
Kapoor's viewpoint as Mahi Arora, a faded star. Till date it is her bravest
film that revealed she certainly knows how to calm ruffled feather.

Her devoted fans are waiting for her upcoming movies- Talaash, My Love
Story, Lajjo, Kismat Talkies, Satyagraha, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2
Dhruv.

She became a sensation for her unique fashion sense. Everyone wants to follow
her fashion trends. The long T-shirts with Patialas that she wears in the movie JAB
WE MET, seems to have become a rage with the youngsters. In 2007 she also got
associated with Globus and the clothing brand and after the commercial success
of the brand she launched her own clothing line with them.

She got associated with Airtel, ladies’ range of Citizen Watches, Dulux with friend/
director Karan Johar .

She has also become the endorsement queen by endorsing lemonade brand
Limca at Rs. 5crore and the price may increase further post her film Heroine’s
success. With the release of ‘Heroine’ she endorsed Lakme for their absolute
range of kajol.

After a long dating with Shahid Kapoor for 3 years, their relationship did not
last and now she is in relationship with Saif Ali Khan for last four years. During
designer Manish Malhotra’s grand finale show at the Lakme Fashion Week, they
confirmed their relationship. Now days we can see Saif with her Bebo in the AD
campaign of Head & Shoulder, Airtel and Metro shoes. It has been revealed that
they will tie the knot this October and arrangements for the royal wedding get
final touches.
