This popular American singer, songwriter, as well as actress was born as Katheryn
Elizabeth "Katy" Hudson on 25th October, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California .She
grew up in a strict Christian family and around gospel music. Both of her parents
are pastors and she was forbidden to listen to secular bands even were not
permitted to watch such cable channels as MTV and VH1 until a childhood
slumber party introduced her to the music of Alanis Morissette and Freddie
Mercury. After failure of her three records, in 2007 she signed with Capitol Music
Group, her fourth record in seven years when he adopted the stage name Katy
Perry in favor of a pop career.

She has become a pop music sensation after releasing her single, "I Kissed a Girl"
a flirty, pop-rock fusion, about sexual exploration by which she earned a Grammy
nomination for best female pop vocal performance . She is famous for her
electrifying stage performance, her fashion choice, catchy songs and her contralto
vocal range. Perry constantly added her live experience by performing with big
singers like Mika and The Starting Line.

After meeting at MTV Video Music Awards, the budding stars was romantically
linked to British comedian Russell Brand and were married on 23rd October,
2010, near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan, India, where Brand
proposed. But their marriage ended in divorce after 14 months of marriage on
December 30, 2011, in Los Angeles due to irreconcilable differences.
