Sonakshi Sinha

This popular glamorous model and actress, was born on 2nd June, 1987 to the
legendary Indian actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. She
grew up with her two brothers Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha. She completed her
fashion designing course from the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey
Women's University (SNDT) in Mumbai. In 2005 she designed costumes for
movie Mera Dil Leke Deko.

Her performance:-

• She began her career as a model and walked the ramp in the Lakme
Fashion week in 2008 and then again in Lakme Fashion Week 2009.
• Sonakshi first came to the notice of actor Salman Khan while she was
engaging in dancing at a function that led to her break in Bollywood in the
2010 film Dabangg co-starring Salman Khan.She had worked very hard
for the film by loosing 30kg weight over a period of two years in order to
prepare for her character of a village girl by "a combination of proper diet
and vigorous exercise". Her hardship gave results with the commercial
success Dabangg, one of the highest grossing Bollywood films.
• Though the year 2011 did not get well for her as Sinha had no film release
in this year, won quite a few awards for her debut, included the Filmfare
Award as well as the IIFA Awards among many others.
• In 2012, Sinha first appeared in Prabhu Deva's Rowdy Rathore opposite to
Akshay Kumar. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, although had
a strong opening at the box office, collecting approx. 15.06 crore (US$2.73
million) on the first day and eventually became a "Blockbuster".
• She will next be seen in Ashwini Dhir's Son Of Sardar alongside Ajay
Devgan, which is set for release in November 2012. Her other upcoming
movies are - Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg 2, the sequel to her immensely
successful debut film, Dabangg with Salman Khan which is expected to

be releasing in December 2012. Sinha has also been signed opposite her
Rowdy Rathore and Joker co-star, Akshay Kumar along with Imran Khan for
Once Upon a Time Again, the sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, set
for release in 2013, along with Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera and Sajid
Nadiawala's Judwaa 2.

She has also been signed on for Prabhu Deva's Namak opposite actor Shahid
Kapoor and Bullet Raja both are under Pre-production.

She won Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards, Filmfare Awards,
Global Indian Film and Television Honours Most Promising Fresh New Face-
Female, International Indian Film Academy Awards
Star Debut of the Year –
Female, Lions Gold Awards, Star Screen Awards, Lions Favourite Actress, and
Stardust Awards for one and only for the film Dabangg. She was also nominated
with Zee Cine Awards as Best International Female Icon.
