Christina Aguilera
The bubblegum pop singer as well as recording artist and actress climbed the
ladder of success through her talent, confidence and personal hardships. She
was born on 18th December, 1980 in Staten Island, New York, to father Fausto
Xavier Aguilera and his wife, Shelly Loraine Fidler. She is known for her
electrifying stage performance, loud voice, the theme in her music and lyrics
based on love, spirituality, female empowerment, and grief and her constant
experiments in her music and lyrical content.
Because of her father’s career in the U.S. Army, she moved around a lot, and
finally settles down in Wexford, Pa., outside of Pittsburgh. At the age of six,
separation of her parents due to her father’s abusive behaviour. From her very
young age she had deep interest in music that undoubtedly inherited from her
musical mother, an experienced violinist and pianist and she always encouraged
her daughter to participate in a number of local talent shows. To pursue
her career in music her mother decided to drop out her school and Aguilera
started her study at home. She started her career by enrolling her name in as
a ‘Musketeer’ "Mickey Mouse Club"(Disney Channel, 1989-1994). There her
classmates were the budding stars Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling
and Keri Russell. Soon she became the ‘teen idol’ by releasing her self-titled debut
album in 1999,: "Genie in a Bottle" and the No. 1 single "What a Girl Wants”
that gave her a successful record selling more than 8 million copies and the 2000
Grammy Awards for Best New Artist trophy at - a category that her rival Britney
Spears was favored to win. But she was not satisfied with the first step of the
success; she wanted to be the top of the ladder of the success. In October 2002,
her second album, Stripped including a number of highly sexualized and more
commanding hit singles, "Dirrty," "Beautiful" and "Make Over." turned her life in a
new path and gave her international success and became one of the leading faces
of a group of teen pop stars.
On November 19, 2005 Aguilera married with her longtime boyfriend Jordan
Bratman after a long dating and after enjoying the early stage of her marriage life,
she decided to come back to music scene, working on a new solo album, "Back to
Basics", which was her first album in four years. But did not last long and ended
in divorce in 2010. She have seen bad times when she was arrested for public
intoxication and at the Super Bowl in February 2011, she seemed to forget some
of the lyrics to the National Anthem.

Her hit single, "Genie In A Bottle," which earned her a Grammy
award for Best New Artist. Her other hit singles include "What A Girl
Wants," "Come on Over Baby," "Lady Marmalade" and the sexually
charged "Dirrty." After teaming up with Pink, Mya and Lil' Kim for the
popular single "Lady Marmalade," Aguilera released her second album,
Stripped, in October 2002. In 2010, her album Bionic reached the top
of the charts. In 2006 her Back to Basics suggested spilling out over
two discs and running the gamut from brassy swing to modern dance.
Its lead single, “Ain’t No Other Man,” was another blockbuster and
Grammy winner for Christina. Her fans are waiting for her seventh
album Lotus which is scheduled for release in November 13, 2012.

Her memorable works for films were- Shark Tale, Shine a Light, Get Him
to the Greek, Burlesque. Her outstanding performance in televisions
were- The Mickey Mouse Club , Beverly Hills, "Let's Eat Cake" , "El día

She is also famous for her humanitarian causes by working with AIDS
awareness campaigns and affiliating herself with the Women's Center
and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. In early 2010, she took on the
role of Ambassador against Hunger for the World Food Program, a
responsibility that soon led her to Haiti, where she helped earthquake
victims.
