Sophie Marceau
Marceau is a French director, screenwriter, actress and author born
on 17 November 1966.She grew up away from the studio spotlights.
Sophie has studied in the Ecole Florent in Paris. She was the second
child of Simon, shop assistant and Benoît Maupu , a truck driver who
were separated at the age of her nine.
Marceau had a relationship with director Andrzej Żuławski, from 1985
to 2001, who is 26 years her senior. In June 1995 their son Vincent
was born. Marceau separated from Żuławski in 2001 and began a
relationship with Jim Lemley who is a producer. In2002 in London
her second child, Juliette was born. Lately from 2007, she is in a
relationship with Christopher Lambert, with whom she acted in the
movies Trivial and Cartagena.
Her performance:
In 1880, she enrolled her name into a model agency and at the same
time Françoise Menidrey, the casting director for Claude Pinoteau's La
Boum signed her a contract for long-term. She heard from friends that
director Claude Pinoteau was searching for new faces for a movie called
The Party (1980) based on teenagers and she gave audition for the role,
got it. Hit movie La Boum rose her fame to unprecedented levels and
her popularity with the European audience also increased accordingly.
She has been impressing audience and critics with her accurate
performance as Madeleine de Saint-Ilette in Fort Saganne, as Julie in
Joyeuses Pâques, as Mary in L'amour Braque, as Noria in Police, as Lola
Kolber in Descente aux enfers.
She made enough of an impression to land more work - in 1888
L'Étudiante, Chouans!, in 1889 My Nights Are More Beautiful than your
Days, in 1990 Pacific Palisades, in 1991 Pour Sacha and La note bleue, in
1993 Fanfan, in 1994 Revenge of the Musketeers, in 1995 Braveheart
and Beyond the Clouds.
Her other prominent performances , she portrayed in Anna Karenina,
Marquise, Firelight, Lost & Found, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The
World Is Not Enough, Fidelity, Belphegor, Phantom of the Louvre,
Alex & Emma, Je reste!, Les clefs de bagnole, Nelly, Anthony Zimmer,
Female Agents, De l'autre côté du lit, Don't Look Back, Cartagena,
Happiness Never Comes Alone.
Being the director and writer, L'aube à l'envers in 1995, Speak to Me
of Love in 2002 and in 2007 Trivial gave her huge recognition and of
course, fame comes behind.

In 1883 she was honored with César Award for Most Promising Actress for La
Boum 2, in 1988 Cabourg Award for Best Actress for Chouans!, in 2000 Cabourg
Award for Best Actress for La fidélité, Blockbuster Entertainment Award for
Favorite Supporting Actress for The World Is Not Enough and Cannes Film Festival
Caméra d'Or Award, in 2002 Montréal World Film Festival Award for Best Director
for Speak to Me of Love and Montréal World Film Festival Grand Prix Special des
Amériques Nomination, in 2007 Montréal World Film Festival Grand Prix Special
des Amériques and in 2008 Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival Jury Prize for
Laughing Out Loud.
She is also famous for her humanitarian causes. Being a pet enthusiast and animal
health advocate, she works with a number of animal organizations.
